Our story
Our restaurant is the only commercial activity in Campione, that has been there for three generations.
Orsolino Consolini, Renato C., Giovanna Leonesio in C., Maria Delaini in C., Antonio C.
In the beginning of 1900, Leonesio Giovanna and Consolini Orsolino, the grandparents of the current owner, opened their first restaurant, named Trattoria Al Porto. It was close to the port, as the name says. This was later followed up by Antonio (Tonino) and his wife Delaini Maria (Mery).
Just after the renovation a bomb-letter arrives and says that the entire place has to be evacuated, because of the danger of falling stones. Tonino and Mery have tried everything they could, but eventually they had to close their restaurant next to the port.
They changed their work and opened a tobacco- and magazine store, but it didn't took long for them to notice that this wasn't the work they liked. The manager of the fabric, who felt that Campione needed a restaurant, gave them 3 apartments on the main square. Tonino and Mery needed to rebuild everything again to re-open their restaurant, named Locanda-Trattoria "Da Tonino". Currently named restaurant "Da Tonino", which has been led by their son Orsolino since 1978, supported by his Dutch wife Brigitte.
